This is considered "the worst weapon" of the First World War

During the First World War a multitude of devices, gadgets and weapons were devised to try to win the war as soon as possible. One of those designs was the 'Chauchat' machine gun manufactured in France from 1915 . The weapon has been considered by some experts as the worst of the war and one of the worst in Military History.

Its design is truly extravagant with a crescent shaped magazine and multiple grips for a better grip. The truth is that this weapon was not the best but not the worst either, since it was manufactured over the years and was finally used by a good number of countries. Of course, needed great improvements to be a weapon that was worth something .

The problem that the Chauchat had was mainly mechanical, because it was frequent that it stopped working with the mud and especially when the magazine, which was open, on the one hand, was filled with dirt. Later improvements solved these problems. However, it was never a machine to the liking of the troops. In the Spanish Civil War they were used by both sides, both rebels and republicans.
